FAMILY AND YOUTH PEER SUPPORT (FYPS) QUEENS ALLIANCE

FYPS empowers and supports parents & caregivers as well as children & youth who are experiencing social, emotional, developmental, substance abuse or behavioral challenges.

THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & MENTAL HYGIENE (NYC HEALTH DEPT)

Together We Can is partnering with the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and Vibrant Emotional Health to implement the FYPS Program in Queens neighborhoods.

VIBRANT EMOTIONAL HEALTH

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) funds a network of FYPS alliances throughout NYC, with one alliance per borough.

Together We Can is a subcontractor of Vibrant Emotional Health:

“Our aim is to reduce the isolation and stress that youth and families undergo when a young person is experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties, opening the doorway for personal empowerment. Through one-to-one support, as well as our evidence-based parenting classes and workshops, families and youth can find the resources and skills that allow them to feel capable and confident in responding to the unique challenges that life can present.

Vibrant’s Family & Youth Peer Support Services are staffed by family and youth advocates who have shared similar life experiences to those we serve – including finding success in navigating the complexities of the child-serving system. In addition to specialized support tailored to individual needs, our youth advocates maintain a strong focus on building other young people’s leadership skills and assisting youth to make a successful transition to adulthood.”
